New in Town is a simulation social game for Facebook. Through their customised avatar, players go to high school, chose a career and establish themselves in a fictional city. Everything the avatar does costs a number of time units to complete. The avatar’s wellbeing is measured in happiness and hunger levels, which need to be kept at certain levels by shopping, socialising or eating. The avatar also needs to get involved in activities that will improve their job and pay, such as working or studying.
New in Town achieved 120,000 daily active users shortly after its release in February 2012.
(…) the game has a great formula and excellent production values. There’s lots to discover and do, though the gameplay is both familiar and straightforward. New in Town offers a level of depth that could potentially keep fans of life sims busy for a good, long while.
